Americans seem increasingly interested in the space program since the landing of a rover for the Mars Science Laboratory mission and Curiosity is now online and reporting back data for nearly a month. According to a recent poll by Rasmussen reports, some 36 percent of Americans believe the “current goals of the space program should including sending [astronauts] to Mars.” The recent death of Neil Armstrong has reinvigorated the ideas of space travel that Armstrong once inspired as the first man to walk on the moon. The Mars Rover is expected to continue its exploration of the red planet for four more years and is hoping that findings will keep Americans interested and participating in the exploration of our distant neighbors. NASA has successfully landed three rovers on Mars, it is not expected for humans to make the trip for many decades to come but not out of the realm of possibility at this point.
