The first female engineer to work for Google, Marissa Mayer, has been announced as the new CEO of Yahoo. The announcement was made Monday morning by Yahoo representatives. The move is intended to help boost the struggling company who was once thought to be Google’s competitor.
Mayer has been the talk of the tech world this week, much of which seems to be expressed as shock over this announcement. Perhaps it’s time that people just go ahead and accept the fact that Mayer is not the type of person to do what is expected of her.
Mayer said in an interview earlier this year when asked about being a “hacker”.
“You can be good at technology and like fashion and art. You can be good at technology and be a jock. You can be good at technology and be a mom. You can do it your way, on your terms.”
