Sony announces launch of new PS3

Sony revealed a new sleeker PS3  model this morning during their keynote presentation at the Tokyo Game Show. The release has been widely anticipated ever since Sony started encouraging American and European journalists to attend the show and an accidental early release on a retailers website pretty much confirmed already what Sony revealed this morning. The new model announced this morning is significantly smaller than earlier models, 50% smaller than the original PS3 and 25% smaller than the PS3 slim. Despite its smaller size the model retains many of users favorite features such as Blu-Ray and internet connectivity as well as an optical audio out allowing the system to be used as a media player as well as a gaming console. The release date is set at September 25th for the new 25GB model with a second bundle release that comes with ‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception set for October 30th.
