Just a few weeks after announcing the launch of their new children’s tablet called the Tabeo, Toys R Us is being taken to court by rival tablet maker Nabi over stolen trade secrets. A law suit filed in San Diego, California federal court alleges that Toys R Us had originally agreed to be the exclusive retailer of the Nabi tablet to steal product secrets before creating their own version of the tablet. Toys R Us became the exclusive retailer of Nabi back in October of 2011 but according to the law suit did “virtually no promotion” of the item and placed a very small holiday order of the product, the exclusive agreement came to an end last January. That was the end of the relationship between the two companies until Toys R Us announced the upcoming release of their new Tabeo tablet earlier this month. The law suit sites fraud, breach of contract, unfair competition and trade secret misappropriation.
